What we remember most about Sarah & Matthieu’s celebration was the warmth of the people who came together to celebrate them. Having shared many years together, Sarah & Matthieu had built a story surrounded by friendships and relationships that had become an important part of their lives. And on this day, those connections were felt everywhere.
Sarah brought an expressive and free-spirited energy to the celebration, while Matthieu, who had taken on much of the planning journey, brought a quiet sense of care to every decision. Together, they created a day that felt deeply personal, not only in the details they chose, but in the way they made space for the people they loved.
Red & Blue drew from the vivid colours of Vietnamese weddings of the past.
For their vow ceremony, Sarah & Matthieu chose to wear áo dài, bringing a distinctly Vietnamese touch into a moment more commonly associated with Western traditions. Sarah wore red, while Matthieu wore blue, with the two colours reflecting their contrasting personalities and becoming a thread woven throughout the celebration.
They appeared again in the stationery and keepsakes prepared for their guests, from engraved bamboo chopsticks and traditional fans to small magnets featuring the couple in red and blue. Two lions, representing Sarah and Matthieu, also became a playful part of the celebration.
Many of their guests arrived in áo dài as well, allowing these familiar cultural touches to come together naturally throughout the day.
Sarah & Matthieu’s closest friends became part of the ceremony itself, sharing their story in both Vietnamese and French.
As the evening unfolded, the celebration slowly became a reflection of all the relationships that had shaped their journey. Family members and friends took turns sharing music and memories, including Sarah’s father singing Wonderful Tonight and Matthieu’s mother performing for the couple and their guests.
Then, almost everyone found their way to the dance floor.
Songs that had followed Sarah & Matthieu through different chapters of their lives filled the room as friends and family danced alongside them. There was a sense of ease in the way everyone celebrated, moving between laughter, music and the simple joy of being together.
By the end of the night, Red & Blue had become more than the colours woven throughout the celebration. They became part of a day filled with different personalities, cultures and stories, all brought together by the people who had come to celebrate Sarah & Matthieu.
