THE BEAUTY OF FAMILY AFFECTION

Ceremony
Hải Anh & Royden

What we loved

What lingered most from that day was the beauty of family affection. Every áo dài prepared by the couple carried its own story. Motifs of birds symbolised the members of the bride’s family, while silver fern leaves and Pohutukawa flowers, iconic to New Zealand, were delicately embroidered onto the garments chosen for the groom’s family. These thoughtful details became a quiet bridge between two homes, two cultures, and one shared future.

As smiles met tears in the eyes of parents and the couple themselves, it felt as though long-held hopes and blessings were gently taking root. Love, nurtured through generations, seemed to bloom all at once, opening into a happiness that was both tender and full.

The materials

With a deep appreciation for the beauty of Vietnamese traditions, Hải Anh poured her affection into every quiet corner of her Lễ Vu Quy. Two rows of tall, verdant bamboo stood gracefully in the family courtyard, guiding guests into a space that felt unmistakably Vietnamese. Calligraphy became a gentle language throughout the setting, from meaningful parallel verses to cherished words such as An Bình and Hạnh Phúc, Thuỷ Chung and Thuận Hoà. Together, they formed a heartfelt wish for Hải Anh and Royden, a life of harmony, devotion, and enduring love.
