Hence, we have come up with a list of fun games you can play on your big day. Get a pen and a paper ready, we’re about to have some fun!

COCKTAIL HOUR

Cocktail hour is the time for everyone to connect, mingle and socialize before the wedding dinner starts (check out our previous blog about Cocktail hour). Having some lighthearted games is a fun way to make sure your guests are totally entertained and kicking off the party vibe. These games are fun and suitable for guests of various ages.

Jenga

What better than a giant game of Jenga to add to your festival wedding vibe? You can also make this game memorable by having guests write down a message for you on the bricks. Way to make a wedding memorable!

Corn Hole

Cornhole is a game in which players take turns throwing 16 ounce (4g) bags of corn kernels at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the board scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches or exceeds the score of 21. Simple and fun!

Word Search

In this game, you can design creative word searches made up of words associated with one’s wedding, or anything that relates to your love story.

RECEPTION DINNER

We tend to stir up the dinner atmosphere with some upbeat games that anyone can join. The perfect time to host these games is towards the end of dinner, during or after serving the last course. And don’t forget to prepare some gifts for your guests to take home.

Mr and Mrs

Drinking Game

This is a game to test the guests’ knowledge of the couple and their love story. Divide the guests into two or three groups and ask questions about the bride and the groom’s interest or personality. The representative of each group will take turns to answer; and of course, if the answer is wrong, everyone in the group drinks!

Dare or Dare

This game is suitable for a small wedding. Before the party, write down the things you “challenge” your guests on the back of their escort card. When the game starts, call out a random guest and see if they dare to take the challenge.

Guess The Song

Play a random part of a song and have your guests guess the song title. This is the old but gold game. In our experience, the success rate of this game is high because it is popular and very easy to play, especially for the elder guests.

Selfie Games

The objective of this game is to take a selfie with a person or a thing. You will need a host for this game. Invite a few guests to the stage and then give them a mission to complete. The mission can be such as a selfie with the bride’s mother; selfie with a beer can; selfie with a plate of food, or with anything that the host can think of. The participants need to quickly complete the mission and show the photo to the host. The last person to finish the mission loses.

AFTER-PARTY

This is the time when the party gets lit. By this time, we’d say almost everyone would get drunk and have fun! So here are 5 drinking games that will lighten up the party.

Counting Game

How to play:
– Players call out the number order (1,2,3,4,..). Each player can only say a number once.
– Anyone can start the game by calling the number 1.  You can either decide on one person to start beforehand, or you can take the risky option of waiting for someone to start randomly.
– Players who call out numbers at the same time have to drink.
– The last person to say the number loses and has to drink.

Trust us, this game is harder (and funnier) than it sounds!

Truth or Dare

What you need:
– A Truth or Dare card
– You can still play this game without having the game cards. Instead, players at the table have to come up with the truths and dares idea for whoever is playing.

Game on!
Whoever goes first has to decide whether to tell a truth or take a dare. If you play with cards, pick a card from the box. Say what’s in the card outloud and follow the instructions on it. Anyone who fails to answer the truth or take a dare has to drink. Repeat until everyone in the table has a turn.

Drinking Cards

What you need:
A set of drinking cards. You can easily get one at Amazon.com. If you live in Vietnam, you can get the game on Shopee in both Vietnamese and English versions.

Game on!
Moving clockwise, players take turns drawing from the deck and reading each card outloud. Follow the instructions on each card to determine who has to drink.

Flip Cups

What you need:
– 6+ players (has to be an even number)
– A table
– Drink of choice
– Solo cups (1 per player)

Set it up:
– Form 2 even team. Each team take one side of the table
– Each player has a cup filled with a desired amount of drink in front of them. Make sure everyone on both teams pours the same amount.

Game on!
– First player in each team line will start to chug their drink and place their empty cup back hanging on the edge of the table.
– Then the player must flip the cup with one hand until it lands up-side-down on the table.
– Once the first player on a team successfully flips the cup, the next player chugs and flips, and so on. Only one player on each team is active at a time.
– The first team to drink and flip all cups wins!

Make a Rule

You can apply this game as a bonus to every game you’re playing.

How to play: One person makes a rule for the night and has everyone to follow. The person who breaks the rule has to drink and starts a new rule!

Here are some example of a good rule:
– No cussing
– You have to yell when speaking to a specific person.
– You can’t say the word “drink”
– You can’t say someone else’s name
– If you laugh, you can’t show your teeth

Wedding reception games are the perfect way to get your guests mingling whilst also creating laughter and unforgettable memories for both you and your guests. Thanks to these games, we’ve spent a lot of precious moments with the bride, the groom and their guests. A little note to yourself: how people will interact and the level of success of the game will depend on the type of guests and the party vibe. We recommend consulting with your wedding planner to pull out the games that are most fun and suitable for your celebration.
